Job summary

FreeWheel, a Comcast company, is seeking a Manager, Software Engineering to join the Buyercloud Ad Serving team. You will lead a team of engineers, shape technical direction, and drive improvements to the Ad Serving infrastructure, working across multiple time zones.

Responsibilities include mentoring engineers, collaborating on features with Product Management, and ensuring timely delivery within budgets. Strong distributed systems and cloud experience are essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years related experience with technical leadership.
• 10+ years of overall software development experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficient in building distributed applications using object-oriented languages such as C++, Java, Rust, or Go.
• Experience in deploying and operating applications in a public cloud provider.
• Proficient in Jira, Confluence, Git, and MS Office products.
• Strong SQL skills with hands-on experience.
• Experience with monitoring tools like Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of software engineers, providing direction and growth opportunities.
• Collaborate with the BuyerCloud Product Management team to deliver new features.
• Provide guidance on technical architecture, design philosophies, and engineering practices.
• Drive improvements to Ad Serving software infrastructure.
• Ensure adherence to deadlines, specifications, and budgets.
• Review team members’ work to ensure quality to team standards.
• Provide technical support and training in Ad Serving capabilities.
• Implement and review employee performance metrics.
• Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies.
