Job summary

Ally Financial in Detroit seeks a Manager - Software Engineering to lead end-to-end delivery for an enterprise platform built with React, Java Spring Boot, Oracle and PostgreSQL on AWS. You will provide technical leadership across agile teams and partner with product, architecture, and DevOps to drive modernization and operational excellence.

The role requires 7+ years of software leadership, hands-on experience with React, Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, AWS, and strong mentoring and delivery

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with React.js, Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs and Microservices, Spring Batch and AWS Batch.
• Experience leading large-scale application delivery initiatives and engineering teams.
• Experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native application architecture.
• Experience designing and supporting distributed systems, high-availability solutions, and enterprise integrations.
• Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies and SDLC best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of business initiatives aligned with objectives, architectural standards and security requirements.
• Provide technical leadership for applications built with React, Java Spring Boot, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Kafka, and AWS services.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions, delivery plans and roadmaps.
• Ensure architectural guidance, acceptance criteria, non-functional requirements, and implementation details are defined.
• Drive AWS cloud adoption and modernization initiatives including migration and optimization.
• Drive cloud-native best practices, IaC, CI/CD, observability, and security controls.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with product owners, QA, and operations to remove blockers and ensure transparency.
