Job summary

Ally Financial is seeking a hands-on Principal Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and support of dealer-facing applications powering critical business interactions. You will drive secure, scalable platforms across front-end, back-end, APIs, and cloud infrastructure with a focus on usability and production excellence.

You will mentor engineers, shape engineering standards, and partner with product, business, and operations to continuously improve dealer experience and platform

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or equivalent
• 4+ years of hands-on cloud engineering experience building and operating scalable applications on AWS
• Strong CI/CD and DevOps experience including build automation and production deployment support
• Perform detailed code reviews to enforce engineering quality
• Establish coding standards and secure development practices
• 10+ years of software development experience delivering scalable enterprise applications
• 3+ years in a technical lead role with ownership of architecture, delivery, and engineering standards
• Mentor and coach junior and mid-level developers

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end full-stack engineering across front-end, back-end, APIs, data, and cloud infrastructure
• Define application architecture, integration patterns, and scalable technical solutions
• Own and coordinate release management activities for dealer-facing applications
• Identify technical risks and propose mitigation strategies
• Coordinate projects with Engineering and Operations teams to minimize disruption
• Mentor engineers and enforce engineering standards
