Job summary

Humana is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, implement, and operate mission-critical stateful services that power real-time decisioning and personalization platforms. You will work on state machines, transactional state stores, and idempotent APIs in a high-concurrency, low-latency environment, leveraging AI-assisted tools to boost productivity.

You will collaborate with platform, data, and QA teams, ensure observability, and mentor engineers in building safe, reliable distributed

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
6+ years of backend or platform engineering experience.
Experience with state machines, transactional state stores and idempotent API/workflow design.
Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, Go or Python.
Experience with AI-assisted development tools for productivity.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and operate stateful services for real-time decisioning and personalization platforms.
Design, implement, and maintain explicit state machines for lifecycle management.
Architect transactional state stores as the single source of truth with robust idempotency controls.
Implement outbox pattern to guarantee atomicity of state updates and event delivery.
Ensure observability through structured logging, metrics, and distributed tracing.
Collaborate with platform, data, and QA teams to guarantee end-to-end reliability.
