Job summary

General Motors is seeking a hands-on Software Engineer to turn complex simulation-testing challenges into production-ready software. You will build across backend services, data pipelines, production infrastructure, and evaluation feedback loops to move our testing from manual to automated.

Collaborate with Autonomy, Systems, Safety, and customer teams to translate testing needs into tooling and automation, while upholding high standards for code quality and software architecture.

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing, building, and operating production software
• Experience with backend services, data platforms or infrastructure
• Experience with cloud-based production systems and observability
• Experience with data pipelines, SQL/NoSQL, and time-series data
• Ability to lead high-level technical design docs and drive execution
• Strong communication and ability to translate complex problems into practical solutions

Responsibilities

• Own delivery of simulation test suites that validate autonomous vehicle software
• Automate test creation and maintenance; integrate partner tools into end-to-end workflows
• Collaborate with Autonomy, Systems, Safety, and customer teams to align testing needs with tooling
• Uphold high standards for code quality and architecture; mentor engineers
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools and analytics to boost productivity and quality
• Move from prototype to production with a focus on velocity and reliability
