Job summary

General Motors seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join the CICD and Embedded Software Development Tools Group. You will lead DevOps, configuration management, and cloud-centric automation for the OPTIMUS platform, enabling robust build and test capabilities for GM’s embedded software production.

You will design pipelines, enforce standards, and partner with product, IT, security, and site reliability teams to drive reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Software Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of software development experience with a focus on DevOps and cloud computing.
• Strong experience building automation pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Establish and enforce standards for repository governance, branching strategy, artifact management, secrets handling, workflow reuse, and build environment consistency.
• Drive platform reliability, scalability, security, and operational excellence across GitHub, Artifactory, Azure, cloud agents, developer environments, and supporting applications.
• Partner with product, IT infrastructure, site reliability, and security stakeholders to deliver new capabilities, resolve systemic issues, and modernize the embedded software development experience.
• Create/maintain monitors for platform and build health using dashboards and quality metrics, and implement actions that improve developer productivity, build efficiency, and software quality.
• Design, develop, and maintain automation pipelines for embedded software production on the OPTIMUS platform.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement best practices for build and test automation within the CICD pipelines.
