Job summary

Highmark Health is seeking an experienced software engineer to join an agile team building scalable applications across digital channels. You will drive architectural decisions and implement solutions using React for frontend and Python with PostgreSQL/BigQuery for backend, while leveraging GraphQL and REST APIs.

The role emphasizes end-to-end development, coding standards, code reviews, and participation in scrum ceremonies.

Qualifications

5 years proficiency in design and analysis of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns for scalable systems.
5 years in at least one modern programming language (Java, Python, JavaScript, etc.) and experience with web services.
5 years defining architectures and evaluating technical trade-offs for long-term capabilities.

Responsibilities

Design and write engineering specifications for software applications, adhering to coding standards and reviews.
Explore and implement technical solutions to achieve required features while ensuring scalability and performance.
Participate in all scrum ceremonies, assist in sprint planning, and track progress to completion.
Create tasks for stories (RTC/Jira) and monitor status and assignment.
Mentor associate and intermediate software engineers as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
