Job summary

Highmark Health is seeking a seasoned software engineer to join an agile team building scalable applications across digital channels. You will own architectural decisions and drive implementation using modern stacks (Java, Python, React, NodeJS) across cloud platforms.

Responsibilities include design specs, code reviews, sprint planning, and mentoring engineers. Strong REST/JSON and CI/CD experience are essential for delivering robust healthcare software solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/CE or closely related field.
• 5+ years in design/analysis of algorithms, data structures, scalable systems.
• 5 years in at least one modern language + experience with two of React, Angular, NodeJS, NoSQL, HTML5, CSS, GCP or AWS.
• 5 years in REST/HTTPS/JSON.
• 5 years in defining system architectures and architectural trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Design and write engineering specs; follow coding standards; perform code reviews.
• Generate ideas and implement scalable tech solutions; ensure performance and scalability.
• Be part of an agile team; participate in scrum ceremonies and sprint planning.
• Drive story creation with DoD and acceptance criteria; create tasks in RTC/Jira; update status.
• Monitor progress against schedule; report issues to lead developers; mentor colleagues.
