Job summary

enGen in Washington, DC, is seeking an experienced software engineer to join an agile team building scalable applications across digital channels. You will drive an enterprise-wide architectural view and oversee technical execution using the best stack for the platform.

The role requires 5 years in design/algorithms, strong Java/Python/JS skills, and modern cloud/Microservices experience. A Bachelor’s in CS is required; Master’s preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a closely related field.
• 5 years proficiency in design and analysis of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns in scalable, highly available systems.
• 5 years in at least one modern programming language (Java, Python, JavaScript, ACE, IIB/ITX, Informatica) and experience with two of: React, Angular, NodeJS, NoSQL DBs, HTML5, CSS, GCP or AWS.
• 5 years of understanding REST, HTTPS, JSON.
• 5 years with one or more general purpose languages (Java, Python (Django/Flask), C/C++, C#, JavaScript, Go).
• 5 years in defining system architectures and technical feasibility trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Design and write code adhering to standards; perform code reviews.
• Generate ideas and implement technical solutions to achieve product features; monitor progress against plans.
• Participate in Scrum ceremonies and assist sprint planning; communicate blockers to the Scrum Master.
• Drive story creation (Definition of Done, Acceptance Criteria, estimation); create tasks in RTC/Jira and update status.
• Monitor progress against production schedule and report issues to lead developers.
• Mentor junior/intermediate engineers as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
