Job summary

The Clearing House Payments Company L.L.C. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the RTP Product Engineering team.

You will design, develop, and enhance our real-time interbank payment platform, delivering reliable, scalable software and new features using Java, Spring, and cloud-native technologies. You will work with RTP Product teams and the Director of Product Engineering to ensure high quality, on-time delivery, while improving performance, security, and resiliency of critical

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS/IS/CE/Data Science or related fields.
• 8+ years in Java software development, with Spring/Spring Boot.
• Expertise in cloud-native architectures, microservices, containers, and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with AWS or other major public clouds (serverless/managed services).
• Experience implementing event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ or similar).
• Proficient in Python for data pipelines, ML, and automation.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical partners; collaborative team player.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% between NYC and NC offices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain highly reliable software for real-time payment processing.
• Serve as a senior technical contributor across the SDLC.
• Develop components in Java using Spring frameworks.
• Build applications on AWS cloud-native services and event-driven stacks.
• Develop Python scripts for data automation and integration services.
• Design and implement services and APIs with modern engineering patterns.
• Contribute to scalability, availability, security, and maintainability decisions.
• Automate build/test/deploy and infrastructure with CI/CD pipelines.
• Apply Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) for deployments.
• Maintain observability and incident readiness for mission-critical systems.
• Mentor junior engineers and uphold engineering standards.
