Job summary

Umbra in the United States is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Order & Delivery team, working on a pivotal public-facing application and robust API services. You will collaborate with product owners and multiple engineering teams to analyze, develop, and maintain the software enabling clients to task and receive SAR data products.

You will lead technical initiatives, design scalable architectures, and ensure quality through code reviews, testing, and on-call

Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
10+ years of experience building highly available web services with server-side scripting languages, preferably Python.
10+ years designing, developing, and testing RESTful APIs and web applications (NodeJS/React).
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices.
2+ years building automated CI/CD pipelines.
Foundational understanding of software architecture, microservices, and automated testing.
Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
Proficient in Git, cloud infrastructure and security (AWS), and containers (Kubernetes/Docker).

Responsibilities

Translate product goals into technical plans with clear acceptance criteria.
Define and refine technical product strategy.
Collaborate with Architecture, Design, Product and Support to build and update products.
Work with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
Build, test, document and maintain customer-facing APIs and web workflows.
Provide leadership, code reviews, and mentoring for team members.
Participate in on-call rotations to ensure uptime and performance goals.
