Job summary

Umbra seeks an experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer to design, build, operate, and scale mission-critical infrastructure powering Umbra’s systems. You will collaborate with engineering to improve processes, adopt best practices, and evaluate new technologies for performance and reliability.

The role emphasizes leadership, automation, and scalable architectures across on-site offices in VA and CA, with a focus on resilience and incident readiness.

Qualifications

• 5-8+ years in a Site Reliability Engineer or DevOps role supporting a SaaS platform
• Extensive experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, VPC Networking) and cloud infrastructure security best practices
• Proficiency running and scaling Kubernetes clusters in production
• Experience with Terraform to architect and manage production infrastructure
• IaC, GitOps, and automation to increase reliability

Responsibilities

• Ensure reliability and scalability of critical systems and meet SLAs
• Develop and promote new technologies and tools
• Lead by example to foster a culture of excellence and reliability
• Continuously improve team processes and workflows
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on technical strategy
• Participate in on-call rotations and resolve complex issues
