Job summary

Fivetran is seeking a senior software engineer to join the Metadata team, owning the end-to-end design and delivery of features for the metadata layer of the dbt platform. You will work across high-throughput APIs and data models to improve speed, reliability, and capabilities, collaborating with product and QE to scale.

You will write and review designs, participate in code reviews, and use AI tools to accelerate development while maintaining high quality and security practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, backend services design and implementation.
• Experience with distributed systems and cloud concepts.
• Proven ability to write well-structured, performant, and tested code.
• Ability to lead feature-level software and design work independently.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and code review skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement features for the Metadata team's services (discovery API, catalog, lineage, run history).
• Develop, maintain, test high-quality code and optimize performance-critical paths.
• Create technical designs and explain trade-offs clearly.
• Review project designs and pull requests with the team.
