Job summary

Fivetran and dbt Labs are building data pipelines to power the modern data stack. We're seeking an engineering manager to lead the Metadata team, owning the discovery API, catalog, lineage, and run history services that help customers understand and trust their data.

You will guide direction, review designs, and ship new capabilities while growing engineers through coaching and career development. This is a fully remote role with occasional in-person meetings in New York.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a software engineering team and driving career development.
• Ability to review designs and code and make architectural trade-offs in distributed cloud-based systems.
• Proven track record delivering complex projects with high reliability and performance.
• Ability to plan with product partners, manage backlog, and hit high sprint/quarterly completion rates.
• Excellent written and spoken communication across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a software engineering team, handling hiring, onboarding, coaching, and 1:1s.
• Own project delivery against quarterly plans, ensuring uptime and latency targets.
• Review designs and code, provide architectural feedback grounded in the Metadata domain.
• Drive quality through incident response, tech debt reduction, and post-mortems within SLA.
• Collaborate with product and stakeholders to maintain a prioritized backlog and clear roadmap.
• Communicate engineering vision and progress to teams and stakeholders.
• Ensure FDLC processes are followed and foster a high-trust culture.
• Promote use of AI tooling to accelerate development and SDLC artifacts.
