Job summary

Alphatec Spine is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and document software for our surgical navigation and robotics platforms. You will work across R&D teams to deliver high-quality C++ applications on Unix/Linux, with emphasis on reliability and regulatory standards.

You will collaborate with mechanical, electrical, systems, and clinical teams, travel up to 15%, and contribute to design decisions while maintaining rigorous version control and documentation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in medical device software development.
• Experience developing C++ applications on Linux with Qt is preferred.
• Familiarity with image processing toolkits (VTK/ITK/OpenCV) and 3D imaging data.
• Experience with IEC 62304 and Agile development methodologies.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement high quality applications and frameworks targeting the Unix/Linux platform.
• Develop and maintain C++ software, and collaborate with cross-functional R&D teams.
• Perform integration and system level testing of software/hardware systems.
• Create documentation for software development projects and test plans.
• Estimate tasks, manage multiple priorities, and travel up to 15%.
• Provide technical support for field-deployed software and engage with surgeons as needed.
