Job summary

Alphatec Spine, Inc. seeks a Senior Software Engineer to develop software for its surgical navigation and robotics platform.

You will design, implement, test, and document Unix/Linux applications in C++ while collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to meet rigorous medical device standards. The role involves contributing to requirements reviews, usability assessments, risk analysis, and regulatory-ready artifacts, with occasional on-site support during clinical prototyping

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in medical device software development.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement high quality applications and frameworks targeting the Unix/Linux platform.
• Design and implement application software in C++.
• Collaborate with cross-functional R&D teams to support evaluation, prioritization, and detailed feature definition.
• Perform integration and system level testing of software and software/hardware systems.
• Develop documentation related to software development projects (design artifacts, test plans/cases).
• Perform task estimation and develop software projects according to project plan.
• Manage multiple tasks/projects and priorities.
• Attend surgical cases and engage with surgeons.
• Support clinical prototyping, testing, and evaluation in cadaveric labs.
• Provide field support for deployed software and drive root-cause analysis.
• Maintain rigorous version control, unit testing, and documentation for regulatory evaluation.
