Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Compute Platform team. You will own the compute orchestration infrastructure used by hundreds of engineers, built on Kubernetes and Istio.

The role emphasizes automation, AI-enabled deployment tooling, and cross-team collaboration to raise reliability, security, and performance standards. You will design and ship tooling that simplifies Kubernetes operations, implement one-off and scheduled jobs, and ensure scalable, self-healing

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with Kubernetes or similar compute orchestration systems.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Go, Python, Java) with production-grade infra experience.
• Hands-on AWS and/or GCP infra services (EC2, EKS, IAM, VPC) at scale.
• Ability to design, implement, and operate distributed infrastructure systems and diagnose failures.
• Familiarity with CNCF tools (Helm, Prometheus, ArgoCD, Envoy) and applying them to infra problems.
• Experience applying AI tooling to infrastructure workflows and improving automation.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, build, and operation of Kubernetes cluster management tooling and automation.
• Build developer-facing tooling and workflows for Kubernetes, integrating AI-driven processes.
• Deliver net-new compute capabilities like one-off jobs, cron scheduling, deployment strategies, and sizing.
• Automate toil, reduce on-call burden, and improve observability and incident response.
• Collaborate with Security, Reliability, and Observability teams to meet Coinbase standards.
