Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own the compute platform orchestration infrastructure that powers hundreds of services. You will build tooling and automation atop Kubernetes, champion AI-enhanced workflows, and collaborate with Security, Reliability, and Observability teams to raise platform quality.

The role requires 5+ years in software engineering with 3+ years in Kubernetes, plus hands-on AWS/GCP experience and CNCF tooling.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• 3+ years building/operating Kubernetes or similar systems
• Proficiency in Go, Python or Java for production services
• Hands-on experience with AWS or GCP in a production-scale environment
• Experience with CNCF ecosystem tools such as Helm/Prometheus/ArgoCD/Envoy
• Experience applying AI tooling to infrastructure workflows
• Ability to design and operate distributed infrastructure and diagnose failures

Responsibilities

• Own design, build, and operation of Kubernetes cluster management tooling and automation at scale
• Build developer-facing tooling and workflows for Kubernetes integration and AI-driven processes
• Deliver new compute capabilities like one-off jobs, cron scheduling, deployment strategies, and auto-right-sizing
• Automate toil, reduce on-call burden, and improve observability and incident response
• Partner with Security, Reliability, and Observability teams to meet security and uptime standards
