Job summary

Workiva is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the BI Team building a data-centric platform surfacing data from internal products. You will work across backend (Java, Go) and frontend (TypeScript, React, Dart) in a modern, cloud-based distributed system environment.

You’ll design, implement, and test software, participate in code reviews, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with product owners and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of professional software development experience preferred.
• Strong CS foundation: data structures, algorithms, OOP and cloud-based distributed systems.
• Proficiency in modern languages: Dart, React, TypeScript, Go, Java, Kotlin.
• Ability to debug complex systems and mentor junior engineers.
• Experience in Agile environments and service-oriented architecture is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement high-quality software solutions meeting business and technical requirements.
• Collaborate with product owners, designers, and stakeholders to refine project requirements and align with product vision.
• Write clean, maintainable code following industry best practices and standards.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure code quality.
• Deliver and document technical solutions that meet customer expectations.
• Develop and execute test plans and automated tests for quality and reliability.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex issues across multiple services and contexts.
• Collaborate with support teams to triage and resolve production issues.
• Participate in product discovery activities with customers to validate hypotheses and identify opportunities.
• Establish KPIs and metrics to drive continuous improvement.
• Mentor and coach engineers to grow technically and culturally.
