Job summary

Workiva is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer for its Business Intelligence team, building a BI platform to surface data from internal Workiva products. You’ll work with Java, Kotlin, Go on the backend and TypeScript, React and Dart on the frontend in a remote US setting.

The role emphasizes design, development, code quality, and collaboration with product owners, designers, and stakeholders. Expect a focus on test automation, mentoring, and continuous improvement within an agile environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant software experience with a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of professional software development experience preferred.
• Strong foundation in computer science including data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with modern programming languages (Dart, React, TypeScript, Go, Java, Kotlin).
• Experience debugging complex systems and mentoring junior engineers.
• Experience in agile environments and service-oriented architectures is a plus.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills; ability to explain complex topics clearly.
• Familiarity with semantic-layer/OLAP tools or columnar data warehouses is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement high-quality software solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
• Collaborate with product owners, designers, and stakeholders to align with product vision.
• Write clean, maintainable code following industry standards.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Deliver and document technical solutions meeting customer expectations.
• Develop and execute comprehensive tests (unit, integration, functional).
• Debug and troubleshoot across multiple service and application contexts.
• Collaborate with support teams to triage production issues.
• Participate in product discovery with customers to identify opportunities for innovation.
• Establish KPIs and metrics to drive continuous improvement.
• Mentor and coach engineers to grow technically and culturally.
• Communicate complex issues to technical and non-technical audiences.
