Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Software Engineer III to support the DOJ OJP OCIO, delivering secure, reliable and user-centered digital products. You will participate in design, development, testing, deployment, and sustainment of applications, APIs, and DevSecOps capabilities for OJP product teams.

The role emphasizes modern Agile practices, API integration, and collaboration with government stakeholders to ensure secure, compliant, and maintainable solutions across enterprise architecture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a technical discipline.
• Minimum four (4) years of progressively responsible software engineering or application development experience.
• Experience developing, enhancing, debugging, and maintaining enterprise or web-based applications across one or more layers.
• Experience with Git-based workflows, code reviews, and automated testing.
• Experience working in Agile development environments and iterative planning.
• Working knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, authentication/authorization concepts, and common integration patterns.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, test, debug, and maintain software components that support OJP digital products, integrations, APIs, automation, and internal platforms.
• Revise existing software to improve functionality, maintainability, usability, performance, accessibility, security, and reliability while reducing defects and technical debt.
• Translate user stories, acceptance criteria, customer needs, and technical requirements into working software using Agile practices.
• Create and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, regression, API, data) to improve release quality.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, source-code repositories, build automation, security scanning, and deployment processes.
• Develop, publish, consume, and maintain APIs and web services through OJP's data-integration environment (WSO2 API Manager), using REST/JSON/XML/SOAP.
• Support API integrations with DIAMD (Okta, SailPoint) and protocols like SCIM, OAuth 2.0, SAML.
• Assist cloud-hosted and containerized environments, coordinate deployment, security, and troubleshooting with networking and security teams.
• Investigate and resolve help desk tickets, defects, and issues related to Data Integration and DevSecOps products.
• Participate in code reviews, defect triage, root-cause analysis, production support, and corrective actions.
• Create and maintain technical docs, configuration information, user stories, SOPs, and implementation notes.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, DevOps, business analysts, product managers, and Government stakeholders.
