Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Software Engineer III to support the DOJ, Office of Justice Programs, OCIO, in advancing secure, reliable, accessible, and user-centered digital products and services. The Software Engineer III will contribute to design, development, testing, deployment, and sustainment of applications, APIs, automation, and DevSecOps capabilities supporting OJP product teams.

The successful candidate will revise existing software to improve function, address defects and technical debt,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a technical discipline.
• Minimum four years of software engineering or application development experience.
• Experience with enterprise/web applications across multiple layers.
• Experience with Git-based workflows, code reviews, and automated testing.
• Experience in Agile development environments and iterative planning.
• Knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, authentication/authorization, and integration patterns.
• Knowledge of CI/CD, cloud platforms, containers, automation, or Infrastructure as Code.
• Strong analytical and communication skills; team collaboration.
• Must meet citizenship, residency, background check, and Public Trust requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, test, debug, and maintain software components supporting OJP digital products and APIs.
• Revise existing software to improve functionality, usability, performance, and security while reducing defects.
• Translate user stories and technical requirements into working software using Agile practices.
• Create and maintain automated unit, integration, regression, API, and data tests.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, source repositories, build automation, security scanning, and repeatable deployments.
• Develop, publish, consume, and maintain APIs using REST and standards like WSO2 API Manager.
• Support API integrations with DIAMD including Okta and SailPoint; SCIM, OAuth 2.0, SAML.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver secure, accessible, and maintainable capabilities.
