Job summary

Husch Blackwell LLP seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain the technical systems powering high‑quality, human‑centered information experiences. You will own backend services, data APIs, and deployment practices across enterprise-grade web apps.

The role emphasizes architecture decisions, reliability, and security, with opportunities to prototype AI, XR, and innovative interfaces in collaboration with ID&E teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical knowledge in CS or related field.
• 5 years in application engineering, software development, or similar role with progression toward senior ownership.
• Proficiency across the full web stack; backend focus with ability to collaborate on UI architecture.
• Experience designing and owning web app architecture for data-intensive/interactive apps.
• Proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript; familiarity with React.
• Experience integrating generative AI capabilities into production apps (LLM APIs).
• Knowledge of data pipelines and cloud data platform integration; design of data-consuming/exposing layers.
• Cloud infrastructure and deployment practices (Azure preferred), CI/CD, environment management, app security.
• Knowledge of software architecture patterns, engineering best practices, security principles for enterprise.
• Familiarity with XR, AI-assisted interfaces, or related emerging technologies.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts to legal, leadership, and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain web app infrastructure and data systems for interactive experiences.
• Set and enforce application‑level standards, design patterns, deployment, and performance targets.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and data scientists on data stories and UI components.
• Write production‑quality back-end services and data APIs across the stack.
• Lead evaluation and deployment of generative AI capabilities within apps and systems.
• Prototype architectures for XR and AI-driven interfaces.
• Ensure reliability, security, accessibility, and scalability across ID&E systems.
• Research new technologies and architectural approaches to advance capabilities.
• Document standards and best practices for ID&E engineering.
• Partner with frontend teams on design system implementation and UI component quality.
• Engage in continuous learning about emerging tech relevant to the transformation office.
