Job summary

Lumen is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and enhance software across multiple disciplines in a remote US setting. You will work within an Agile Scrum team to deliver scalable, production-quality systems that meet performance and reliability targets.

The role requires expertise in GoLang and Java, Temporal Workflow, Oracle RDBMS, cloud platforms, and modern frameworks like Spring Boot and Kafka. Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience. 4+ years with a master’s degree.
• Working knowledge of software development methodologies, standards, and coding best practices.
• Experience in Agile practices including planning, grooming, sprint management, standup and retrospectives.
• Experience with GoLang and Java.
• Experience with Temporal Workflow.
• Experience with Oracle RDBMS, writing PL/SQL.
• Experience with Unix/Linux shell scripting.
• REST API Services is a plus.
• Fluent with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Hibernate/JPA, Kafka, REST services and testing (JUnit/TestNG).
• Cloud platforms proficiency (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Experience with AKS, Logic Apps, Service Bus.
• Experience using AI developer tools to produce high-quality code.
• Ability to develop scalable, high-performance systems for large data volumes.
• Highly motivated, organized, reliable and detail-oriented.
• Quick learner and proactive about new technologies.
• Telecommunications industry experience is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Partners in an Agile Scrum team to design, develop, test, debug and support new software or significant enhancements.
• Collaborates with business partners and technical staff to build technical solutions meeting requirements.
• Works with product developers to define and implement automated tests.
• Documents work to promote transparency and reuse.
• Builds production-quality enterprise systems achieving target SLAs for scalability and performance.
• Participates in code-review processes.
• Manages multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
• Demonstrates accountability for successful completion of assignments.
