Job summary

Markup AI is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own product capabilities end-to-end, spanning data models to final UI interactions. This frontend-leaning full-stack role emphasizes React, TypeScript, Next.js, and Chrome extension integrations within an enterprise context.

You will work on complex browser and document problems, evolve our shared design system, and support LLM-powered workflows with robust testing and accessibility in mind.

Qualifications

• Deep experience building production apps with React and TypeScript.
• Strict TypeScript habits and clear API design.
• Experience with client data layers, cache keys, optimistic updates.
• Experience building enterprise software with multi-tenancy and permissions.
• Strong testing habits and accessibility focus.

Responsibilities

• Lead substantial product features from discovery to iteration.
• Build complex, responsive experiences with React, TypeScript, Next.js, and TanStack Query.
• Design the endpoints, data models, queries, and migrations.
• Evolve the Chrome extension and document integrations with Google Docs and Word Online.
• Improve the design system with accessibility, keyboard behavior, and focus management.
• Build interfaces for asynchronous and LLM-powered workflows.
• Maintain automated coverage with Vitest, Testing Library and Playwright.
• Use instrumentation to diagnose production behavior, including upstream failures.
• Write ADRs when decisions affect multiple systems.
• Raise engineering quality through reviews, pairing, and shared foundations.
