Job summary

Layton Construction in Hawaii is seeking a Superintendent to manage daily site operations, scheduling, production, procurement of materials, manpower, and equipment on a commercial project. You will lead onsite teams and coordinate with the Project Manager to ensure timely completion while maintaining quality and safety standards.

The role requires strong leadership, planning, and communication skills, with a focus on cost control and proactive problem solving.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction field and 5+ years of commercial construction experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project site.
• Reads blueprints accurately and understands building codes.
• Knowledge of subcontractors' scopes and tolerances.
• Strong written and verbal communication; basic Spanish preferred.
• Good administrative and cost-management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and proactive mindset.
• Team player with interpersonal skills.
• Organized and able to manage multiple tasks and schedules.
• Professional appearance and conduct; safety and quality compliance.
• Experience with CMiC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan procedures from specifications using staffing, tools, and equipment knowledge.
• Work with Project Manager to develop and monitor look-ahead schedules.
• Coordinate the pre-construction meeting with the Project Manager.
• Direct procurement of tools and materials to meet schedules.
• Communicate project progress to clients, subs, and craft personnel.
• Resolve issues with supervision and suppliers; adjust plans as needed.
