Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Superintendent to run daily site operations, oversee scheduling, production, and procurement of materials, manpower, and equipment on a commercial project in Hawaii. The role supervises direct labor and any contracted work to ensure timely project completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction related field or equivalent.
• At least 5 years commercial construction experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes.
• Has a valid driver's license and can travel to project site.
• Understands and applies building codes and reads blueprints.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; basic Spanish preferred.
• Good administration and coordination skills.
• Good management skills and people oversight.
• Maintains ethics and professional conduct.
• Shows initiative and self-starting attitude.
• Familiarity with office equipment and software.

Responsibilities

• Plan procedures for construction based on specs and staffing requirements.
• Develop and use look-ahead schedules with the Project Manager.
• Coordinate pre-construction meetings with the Project Manager.
• Direct procurement of tools and materials to meet schedules.
• Inform all parties of construction issues and progress.
• Resolve labor and coordination issues with supervisory and labor representatives.
• Inspect work to ensure conformance with specs and schedules.
• Manage project progress, costs, and adjust schedules as needed.
• Move personnel between projects to optimize crew mixes and costs.
• Prepare the Project Management Plan with the Project Manager.
• Ensure safety, quality standards, and company policies are followed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
