Job summary

Layton Construction in Hawaii seeks an Assistant Superintendent who will work under the Site Superintendent and alongside the Project Manager to develop, manage, and complete a job plan for assigned jobs. The role is on-site primarily, with potential travel across Hawaii.

You will review plans, develop schedules, coordinate resources, monitor progress, and communicate updates to clients, architects, subcontractors, and supervision, ensuring safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2+ years in construction management.
• Experience overseeing commercial, industrial and/or multifamily projects from conception to completion.
• Knowledge of construction processes and blueprints.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Knowledge of building codes and subcontractors' scopes of work.

Responsibilities

• Review plans and specifications to understand job requirements.
• Develop job plans including schedule, access, manpower and building requirements.
• Procure tools, labor and some materials.
• Interact with architects and owners to resolve issues.
• Coordinate with General Superintendent and Project Manager on schedule and scope.
• Communicate progress and issues to supervisors, clients and subcontractors.
• Inspect work to ensure conformance to specs and schedules.
• Assist in managing labor costs and resource allocation.
• May track and price extra work and change orders.
• Adhere to safety policies and company procedures.
