Job summary

Reworld Waste in Newark, NJ, is seeking a Shift Supervisor to lead the safe, compliant operation of a heavy industrial power-generation and resource-recovery facility on an assigned shift. You will supervise plant personnel and oversee boilers, turbines, and control systems to ensure reliability and environmental compliance.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will conduct rounds, coordinate maintenance and emergencies, train staff, and uphold safety and licensing standards.

Qualifications

• Three+ years of supervisory experience in heavy industrial or manufacturing environments.
• Active New Jersey Operating Engineer or Boiler Operator license with Black/Blue/Red Seal or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience with high-pressure boilers and electric-generating equipment.
• Knowledge of steam power plant operations, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Bachelor's degree preferred; HS diploma required.
• Ability to work rotating day and night shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe, compliant operation of the facility during shifts.
• Supervise plant personnel and oversee boilers, turbines, and generating equipment.
• Conduct plant rounds and monitor conditions and equipment performance.
• Direct response to emergencies and equipment failures.
• Approve lockout/tagout procedures and safety permits.
• Coordinate maintenance activities and inspections.
• Train and mentor shift personnel for cross-training.
• Lead projects assigned by the Operations Manager.
