Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking a Food Service Supervisor to oversee inmate dining operations. You will hire, train, and evaluate inmate staff, ensuring daily duties are performed professionally and safely in a secured cafeteria environment.

Responsibilities include order accuracy, adherence to the master menu, and coordination with health inspections. Certification requirements and supervisory training are emphasized for career progression.

Qualifications

• Experience in quantity and quality cooking required.
• Must be ServSafe certified or obtain certification within six months.
• Must be certified by South Carolina Department of Corrections Training Academy or complete SCDC basic training upon hire.
• Must complete basic supervisory course within eighteen months of employment.
• Related food service experience.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, hires, evaluates and terminates inmate food service employees.
• Trains and instructs all employees in duties of their roles.
• Supervises all personnel in the performance of daily duties.
• Maintains internal security of the cafeteria.
• Works with inmate committee to resolve problems and complaints.
• Prepares accurate weekly food orders and deliveries.
• Prepares cook's worksheet per SCDC master menu and maintains records for 5 years.
• Meets health, fire and OSHA inspections.
• Ensures maintenance/repair of cafeteria equipment.
• Targets ServSafe certification within six months of employment.
