Job summary

State of South Carolina is hiring a Cafeteria Supervisor to oversee inmate food service operations. You will interview and train staff, ensure daily performance, and maintain security within the cafeteria while coordinating with inmate representatives and regulatory bodies.

The role requires ServSafe certification or commitment to obtain within six months, plus SCDC training requirements and supervisory coursework within 18 months. Prior related supervisory experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing food service operations in a large, institutional setting.
• Ability to train and lead kitchen and dining staff effectively.
• Strong supervisory skills with ability to resolve issues and maintain quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, hires, evaluates and terminates inmate food service employees.
• Trains and instructs all employees in duties across kitchen and dining areas.
• Supervises all personnel in daily duties to ensure efficiency and compliance.
• Maintains internal security of the cafeteria as an officer.
• Collaborates with inmate representative committee to resolve problems and complaints.
• Prepares cook’s worksheet weekly and maintains a 5-year records archive.
• Meets with health, fire and OSHA inspections.
• Ensures maintenance/repair of cafeteria equipment is carried out.
