Job summary

Baker Group is seeking a Sr. Service Accountant - Team Support in Ankeny, IA to support the Service Accounting team and act as SME for BuildOps and Spectrum. You will work with the Service Office Operations Leader and Controller on processes, systems, and improvements.

Role emphasizes training, accuracy in billing, and collaboration across departments, with opportunities to mentor teammates and lead special projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of five years of experience in accounting, billing, or related financial operations.
• Experience leading a team preferred.
• Experience in construction or service accounting a plus.
• Knowledge of billing and collection processes.
• Knowledge of sales and use taxes.
• Experience with Spectrum and BuildOps preferred.

Responsibilities

• Train and mentor service accounting staff through coaching and development.
• Establish and maintain consistent procedures, standards, training, and documentation across the service billing team.
• Assist team with workload planning to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
• Review invoices and journal entries for accounting accuracy.
• Review service contract setup and billing; resolve complex issues.
• Enter and maintain service labor and equipment rates.
• Provide guidance on tax requirements and cash flow support.
• Collaborate with leadership on process improvements and project work.
• Provide backup support for roles as needed.
• Lead or assist with special projects.
