Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a mid- to senior-level Sediment Remediation Scientist or Geologist to lead projects and advise clients on sediment remediation strategies. The role involves directing teams of engineers and scientists and coordinating with federal and public-sector clients.

The candidate should have strong knowledge of regulatory steps and deliverables, with travel as required to project sites and client meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with at least 7 years related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide expertise evaluating feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and design sediment remediation for riverine, coastal, riparian/floodplain, and port sites.
• Understand scientific/engineering principles of sediment transport, site assessment, sampling/monitoring, cap modeling, dredge approaches, and remedial action design.
• Support mathematical/statistical evaluations of environmental data sets.
• Serve as CDM Smith’s task manager on complex sediment sites; communicate strategy to clients and SMEs.
• Liaise with clients, public, and outside consultants; explain technical evaluations to non-experts.
