Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a mid- to senior‑level Sediment Remediation Scientist or Geologist to lead projects and independently manage teams on sediment remediation assignments for federal and public sector clients. Experience with riverine, coastal, riparian/floodplain, or port settings is preferred.

You will guide technical evaluations, communicate complex designs to clients and stakeholders, and ensure regulatory compliance while traveling as needed to project sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and prepare designs for riverine, coastal, and port settings.
• Understand sediment transport, site assessment, sampling/monitoring, cap modelling, dredge approaches, and remedial action design.
• Provide support of mathematical/statistical evaluations of environmental data sets.
• Act as task manager on sediment sites, communicating strategy to clients and SMEs.
• Possess expertise in CERCLA, GLLA, and other regulatory steps for contaminated sediments.
• Liaise with clients, public, and outside consultants, communicating complex evaluations to non-experts.
• Lead staff in preparing and reviewing technical information to ensure regulatory compliance.
