Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a mid- to senior‑level Sediment Remediation Scientist or Geologist. The candidate will lead projects on sediment remediation for federal/public sector clients, evaluating technologies and designing remediation for diverse settings.

Travel to sites may be required as projects vary in scope and location. The role requires strong regulatory knowledge (CERCLA, GLLA and related processes), ability to manage teams, and excellent communication with clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 7 years related experience.
• Occasional domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Ability to lead teams of engineers/scientists on sediment remediation projects.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate the feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and design remediation for riverine, coastal, riparian/floodplain, or port sites.
• Understand principles of sediment transport, site assessment, sampling, cap modelling, dredge approaches, remedial action design.
• Support mathematical/statistical evaluations of environmental data.
• Act as task manager on sediment sites; communicate strategy to client and coordinate SME inputs.
• Liaise with client, public, and outside consultants; communicate complex technical evaluations clearly.
• Lead staff in preparing technically sound documents compliant with regulations and policy.
