Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a mid- to senior‑level Sediment Remediation Scientist or Geologist in the United States. You will lead projects and teams on sediment remediation for federal and public sector clients, bringing expertise in designing and evaluating remediation approaches for riverine, coastal, and port settings.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and about 7 years of related experience, with travel possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; 7 years related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Providing expertise in evaluating the feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and preparing sediment remediation designs for riverine, coastal, riparian/floodplain, and/or port site settings involving multiple stakeholders.
• Understanding the scientific and engineering principles of sediment and contaminant transport, environmental site assessment, sampling/monitoring technologies, cap modelling, dredge approaches, remedial action design, and/or remedial action construction.
• Providing support of mathematical/statistical evaluations of environmental data sets.
• Serving as CDM Smith’s task manager on various components of complicated sediments sites. This includes having the ability to assess and understand a problem, develop and communicate a technical strategy to the client, and interact effectively with CDM Smith subject matter experts.
• Possessing an in-depth expertise in the various CERCLA, GLLA, and/or other regulatory program steps/processes at contaminated sediment sites.
• Serving as a technical liaison with the client, general public, and/or outside consultants, including communicating complicated technical evaluations and/or designs to non-subject matter experts.
• Leading other staff in preparing/reviewing/scrutinizing technical information to provide a document that is technically sound and that conforms to applicable regulations and policy.
