Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a mid- to senior-level Sediment Remediation Engineer. The role focuses on leading sediment remediation projects for Federal and Public sector clients, with emphasis on feasibility, design, and regulatory compliance across riverine, coastal, and port environments.

The ideal candidate will guide teams, manage complex technical components, and communicate strategies clearly to clients and stakeholders while ensuring project quality and regulatory alignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Evaluating sediment remediation technologies and designing sediment remediation for riverine, coastal, riparian/floodplain, and port sites with multiple stakeholders.
• Understanding sediment and contaminant transport, site assessment, sampling/monitoring, cap modeling, dredge approaches, remedial action design/construction.
• Supporting mathematical/statistical evaluations of environmental data sets.
• Acting as CDM Smith’s task manager on sediment sites and communicating technical strategies to clients.
• Applying CERCLA, GLBA, and other regulatory steps at contaminated sediment sites.
• Serving as a technical liaison with clients, public, and outside consultants.
• Leading staff in preparing, reviewing, and scrutinizing technical information to ensure regulatory compliance.
