Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a mid- to senior-level Sediment Remediation Engineer to lead independent work and guide a team on sediment remediation projects for Federal and Public sector clients. Expertise in evaluating remediation technologies and designing sediment projects is preferred.

The role requires strong communication, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to manage complex sites while coordinating with clients and stakeholders. Travel may be required by workload and project needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Providing expertise in evaluating the feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and preparing sediment remediation designs for riverine, coastal, riparian/floodplain, and/or port site settings involving multiple stakeholders.
• Understanding the principles of sediment and contaminant transport, environmental site assessment, sampling/monitoring technologies, cap modeling, dredge approaches, remedial action design, and construction.
• Supporting mathematical/statistical evaluations of environmental data sets.
• Serving as task manager on complex sediment sites, communicating technical strategy to clients and team.
• Liaising with clients, the public, and consultants, translating complex evaluations to non‑experts.
• Leading staff in preparing/reviewing technical information to ensure regulatory compliance.
