Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a mid- to senior-level Sediment Remediation Engineer to lead projects and mentor teams on sediment remediation in various settings. The candidate will work with clients including Federal/Public sector and coordinate with subject matter experts.

Role involves evaluating remediation technologies, preparing designs, and applying principles of sediment transport, site assessment, capping, dredging, and remedial action construction. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide expertise evaluating feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and design sediment remediation for riverine, coastal, riparian/floodplain, and port settings.
• Understand principles of sediment and contaminant transport, site assessment, sampling/monitoring, cap modeling, dredge approaches, and remedial action design/construction.
• Support mathematical/statistical evaluations of environmental data sets.
• Act as task manager on sediment sites, communicate strategy to client and coordinate with SMEs.
• Liaise with client and outside consultants; communicate technical evaluations to non-experts.
• Lead staff in preparing/reviewing technical documents to ensure regulatory compliance.
