Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a mid- to senior-level Sediment Remediation Engineer to lead projects for federal and public-sector clients. The candidate should independently manage tasks and teams, possess deep CERCLA/GLLA regulatory knowledge, and communicate complex analyses clearly to stakeholders.

Ideal candidates have a Civil/Environmental/Chemical Engineering background, a PE license, and about seven years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and design sediment remediation solutions for riverine, coastal, riparian/floodplain, and port sites.
• Understand principles of sediment and contaminant transport, site assessment, sampling/monitoring, cap modeling, dredge approaches, and remedial action design.
• Support statistical evaluations of environmental data sets.
• Serve as CDM Smith’s task manager on sediment sites, communicating strategy to clients and collaborating with SMEs.
• Demonstrate expertise in CERCLA, GLLA, and other regulatory steps for contaminated sediment sites.
• Act as a technical liaison with clients, the public, and outside consultants, presenting complex analyses to non-experts.
• Lead staff in preparing and reviewing technical material to ensure regulatory compliance and technical soundness.
