Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a mid- to senior-level Sediment Remediation Engineer to independently lead and mentor teams on sediment remediation projects for federal and public clients. You will evaluate technologies, design sediment remedies, and manage client communications while navigating regulatory requirements.

The role demands deep knowledge of CERCLA/GLLA processes, strong leadership, and robust coordination with engineers and scientists across projects, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and prepare designs for riverine, coastal, riparian/floodplain, and/or port sites with multiple stakeholders.
• Understand sediment transport, site assessment, sampling/monitoring, cap modeling, dredge approaches, remedial design/construction.
• Support mathematical/statistical evaluations of environmental data sets.
• Serve as CDM Smith’s task manager on complicated sediment sites and communicate technical strategy to the client.
• Liaise with client, public, and outside consultants; convey complex evaluations to non-experts.
• Lead staff in preparing, reviewing and validating technical information to ensure regulatory compliance.
