Job summary

Amazon Leo is seeking an experienced software engineer to design, build, and maintain foundational software for U.S. Government customers, including NASA and DoD. You will create new services for space safety and sustainability, coordinating with external systems at scale.

Based in Sunnyvale, CA, with relocation benefits. This role requires onsite work five days a week and U.S. citizenship to comply with government requirements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Design, build out, and maintain foundational software for Government customers.
• Develop new software services for mission critical space safety and sustainability applications.
• Collaborate with hardware, security, systems, and product teams to deliver real-time solutions.
• Lead internal and vendor teams to deliver software and interface requirements.
• Ensure systems meet performance, availability, interoperability, and security needs.
• Communicate project health, risks and issues to stakeholders.
• Escalate urgent issues and drive them to closure.
• Provide visualizations and document results across teams.
