Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Boston seeks a Software Development Engineer II for the Programming Foundations Team.

You will design and build developer tools used by Amazon engineers, work with language and library ecosystems, and maintain build tools, compilers, libraries and frameworks. You will influence OSS upstream projects, collaborate across teams to address engineers' pain points, write and review code, and help others debug issues with our tools.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience for complex systems.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related experience.
• 1+ years designing and developing large-scale, distributed software using C#, C++, Java or Perl.
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
• Experience programming with at least one language.

Responsibilities

• Design and build developer tools used by Amazon engineers daily.
• Work with languages and libraries powering Amazon's services to improve usability and reliability.
• Maintain build tools, compilers, libraries and frameworks.
• Shape OSS upstream projects and contribute directly.
• Collaborate across Amazon to address engineer pain points with tools, libraries, and frameworks.
• Write code, review teammates' code, and help others debug issues with our tools.
