Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Boston, MA is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join the Programming Foundations Team.

You will help design and build developer tools that Amazon engineers use daily, and work with languages and libraries that power Amazon's services to improve reliability and usability. You will also maintain build tools, compilers, libraries and frameworks and contribute to OSS upstream projects, collaborating across Amazon to address engineers' pain points.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability and scaling).
• 1+ years of SDE or related occupational experience.
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Responsibilities

• Design and build developer tools that Amazon engineers use every day.
• Work with the languages and libraries that power Amazon's services, making them easier to use and more reliable.
• Help maintain our build tools, compilers, libraries and frameworks.
• Shape how OSS upstream projects are developing, including contributing to them directly yourself.
• Collaborate with engineers across Amazon to understand their pain points and build tools, libraries and frameworks that address them.
• Write code, review code from teammates, and help others debug issues with our tools.
