Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is seeking a Software Development Engineer III for the Programming Foundations team within Amazon Builder Experience. You will design and build developer tools used by Amazon engineers and contribute to core build systems, libraries and OSS projects.

The role emphasizes leadership in shaping language experience, mentoring engineers, and delivering reliable tooling across a company-wide software platform.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Design and build developer tools that Amazon engineers use every day.
• Work with the languages and libraries that power Amazon's services, making them easier to use and more reliable.
• Help maintain our build tools, compilers, libraries and frameworks.
• Shape how OSS upstream projects are developing, including contributing to them directly yourself.
• Collaborate with engineers across Amazon to understand their pain points and build tools, libraries and frameworks that address them.
• Mentor the engineers you work closely with and help bar raise the builder experience from the language perspective.
• Write code, review code from teammates, and help others debug issues with our tools.
