Job summary

EMD Serono in MA is hiring a functional genomics scientist to join the Discovery Biology group in RU-N&I at our state-of-the-art facility in Billerica, MA. We collaborate with international teams to discover drugs for neurodegenerative and autoimmune diseases, using gene editing to validate targets and generate cellular models.

You will plan in vitro studies, leverage CRISPR and single-cell approaches, and work with diverse readouts (NGS, imaging, FACS).

Qualifications

• PhD in a life science field (e.g., Biology, Biotechnology, Genetics, etc.)
• Masters degree in a life science field with 6+ years of lab experience AND 2+ years with complex cell culture systems and primary cells or iPSCs or CRISPR screens

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute and lead in vitro studies using complex cell systems
• Apply advanced CRISPR techniques to identify and validate targets
• Use pooled, arrayed, and single-cell functional genomics methods
• Work with NGS, imaging, and FACS readouts to study gene roles
• Develop cellular models and assays with disease biology experts
• Record data in ELN and present to labs, teams, and external meetings
