Job summary

Pfizer is seeking a Senior Scientist-Chemical Engineer to join the API Process Development team within CRD in Groton, CT. You will develop and optimize API manufacturing processes, lead technology transfer, and apply advanced modeling and automation to scale up processes.

The role emphasizes collaboration across chemistry and manufacturing, with responsibilities including process design, validation support, and cross-functional communication in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Qualifications

• BS with 9+ years, MS with 7+ years, or PhD with 0+ years in Chemical Engineering.
• Expertise in reaction engineering and kinetic model development.
• Strong knowledge of reactor design, thermodynamics, transport phenomena, statistics and process modeling.
• Outstanding lab skills and problem-solving ability; strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Apply chemical engineering to design and perform lab experiments for API manufacturing unit operations.
• Assess scalability and robustness of API processes for large-scale production.
• Develop and apply new batch, semi-batch and continuous flow technologies.
• Lead technology transfer to internal sites and external partners; support validation activities.
• Use process simulation and statistics to analyze kinetics, thermodynamics and transport phenomena.
• Prepare internal reports and presentations summarizing process development work.
• Champion new technology and digital tools to accelerate workflows.
• Stay current with literature and contribute to publications and conference presentations.
