Job summary

Pfizer Inc. in Groton, CT seeks a Senior Scientist-Chemical Engineer to join the API Process Development team.

You will design and optimize API manufacturing unit operations, transfer processes to internal sites, and collaborate with chemists and analysts to mature scalable processes. Responsibilities include applying reactor design, process modeling, and statistical tools to improve throughput, robustness, and tech transfer, while supporting NDA documentation and regulatory inquiries.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemical Engineering with extensive lab experience and strong fundamentals in kinetics.
• MS/PhD preferred for advanced modeling and process development roles.
• Expertise in reaction engineering and reactor design; experience with kinetic modeling from data.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across disciplines.
• Knowledge of process modeling and statistical analysis is required.

Responsibilities

• Design and perform laboratory experiments to develop and optimize API manufacturing unit operations.
• Assess scalability and robustness of API processes for large-scale production.
• Apply batch, semi-batch, and continuous flow technologies to improve processes.
• Lead technology transfer of processes to internal and external sites.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing process development work.
• Collaborate with chemists and analysts to transfer knowledge to manufacturing.
