Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • 3 years of secretarial/clerical experience, preferably in a medical practice.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules patient appointments, consults, and follow-ups in the practice management system.
  • Collects patient demographics and insurance information and enters it into the system.
  • Verifies insurance coverage prior to appointments and notes referrals or authorizations needed.
  • May schedule tests or additional consults for patients.
  • May initiate reminder calls for next-day appointments.
  • Trains and mentors less experienced staff and discusses issues with the Supervisor.
  • Acts as liaison between Scheduling Coordinator staff and Administrative Assistants.
  • Participates in customer service initiatives and patient satisfaction efforts.
  • Contributes input during Performance Appraisal processes with the Supervisor.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
