Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Patient Access Coordinator to manage appointment scheduling and ensure timely, accurate patient records and communication. You will coordinate with physicians and service lines to integrate new patients and support oncology care teams.

The role requires strong communication skills, medical terminology familiarity, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • PC knowledge required.
  • Interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required.
  • At least 1 year experience in a Patient Access department.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent in healthcare, insurance, or physician practice.

  • Coordinate appointment scheduling as directed by physician orders.

Job description

  • Coordinate appointment scheduling as directed by physician orders
  • Ensure pertinent records and medical documentation, including imaging and pathology, arrive before the patient’s first appointment
  • Communicate pivotal information for integrating new patients into each service line
  • Involve patients in directing their plan of care
  • Work confidentially, efficiently, cost effectively, and in a customer-focused manner
  • Collaborate with hospital disciplines to achieve timely, accurate, and customer-satisfied outcomes
  • Support care for patients across Hematology/Oncology, Surgical Oncology, and Medical Oncology
  • Accommodate possible expanded hours and weekend coverage as an operational necessity

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • PC knowledge
  • Interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • At least 1 year experience within a Patient Access department
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience in healthcare, insurance or physician practice preferred
  • Experience with, or knowledge of medical terminology desired
  • Medical terminology, ICD-10 diagnosis coding and third party reimbursement experience preferred
  • Ability to work in self-directed manner while interacting with consumers, physicians and all medical center faculty and staff
  • Familiarity with OSUMC and its entities preferred
  • Able to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks in a busy environment
  • Successful completion of a background check
  • A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process
